چکیده

We have obtained high-resolution Fourier transform emission spectra of the à left and right arrow &Xtilde; transition of the jet-cooled p-xylyl radical in the 450-nm spectral region. The band contours of several vibronic bands are examined. By using the rotational constants obtained from previous high-resolution LIF spectra and information about the torsional constants from dispersed fluorescence experiments, both a-type and b-type band contours are simulated. Based on symmetry arguments and the results of the simulation, we have reassigned the 6a and 6b vibrational mode frequencies of the ground electronic state of the p-xylyl radical. Spectroscopic Evidence of Jet-Cooled p-Chloro-α-Methylbenzyl Radical in Corona Excitation

We report the first spectroscopic evidence of the jet-cooled p-chloro-α-methylbenzyl radical. The visible vibronic emission spectrum was recorded from the corona discharge of precursor p-chloro-ethylbenzene seeded in a large amount of inert carrier gas helium using a pinhole-type glass nozzle coupled with a technique of corona excited supersonic expansion. From the comparison with the vibronic ...

Vibronic spectra of the p-benzoquinone radical anion and cation: a matrix isolation and computational study.

The electronic and vibrational absorption spectra of the radical anion and cation of p-benzoquinone (PBQ) in an Ar matrix between 500 and 40,000 cm(-1) are presented and discussed in detail. Of particular interest is the radical cation, which shows very unusual spectroscopic features that can be understood in terms of vibronic coupling between the ground and a very low-lying excited state. The ...

Experimental investigation of the Jahn-Teller effect in the ground and excited electronic states of the tropyl radical. Part II. Vibrational analysis of the A 2E"3-X 2E"2 electronic transition.

Laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) and laser-excited dispersed fluorescence (LEDF) spectra of the cycloheptatrienyl (tropyl) radical C7H7 have been observed under supersonic jet-cooling conditions. Assignment of the LIF excitation spectrum yields detailed information about the A-state vibronic structure. The LEDF emission was collected by pumping different vibronic bands of the A 2E"3<--X 2E"2 el...

Free Jet Cooled Laser - Induced Fluorescence Spectrum of Methoxy . 1 . Vibronic Analysis of the and 2 States

The methoxy free radical has been formed in a supersonic free jet expansion by KrF photolysis of methyl nitrite. Its laser-induced fluorescence excitation and wavelength-resolved-emission _spectra have been recorded at low temperature. This paper reports the vibronic analysis of the C H 3 0 and CD30 A2Al XZE electronic spectra. A new value for the electronic origin has been determined as well a...

Isomer-specific product detection of gas-phase xylyl radical rearrangement and decomposition using VUV synchrotron photoionization.

Xylyl radicals are intermediates in combustion processes since their parent molecules, xylenes, are present as fuel additives. In this study we report on the photoelectron spectra of the three isomeric xylyl radicals and the subsequent decomposition reactions of the o-xylyl radical, generated in a tubular reactor and probed by mass selected threshold photoelectron spectroscopy and VUV synchrotr...
